Merry Meet and Welcome to "The Broomcloset"!!!!

My name is SisterLittleWitch and this is my official coming out of the broom closet. I started on my path around year 2000 (although I do believe I've always known my path deep down) and have kept it a secret a couple of years when I put this site up. Well thats not exactly true. There were a few choice people in my life that I confided my secret to and for this I'm eternally grateful.

These people know who they are and so will remain nameless. One however is so much a part of me that to leave her out would be like leaving a piece of myself out. So thank you to Moonstorm....my sister, my confidant, my best friend. ~smiles~

The Pentacle is a beautiful symbol with an even more beautiful meaning. It is our sacred symbol and represents life itself. The five points of the star, the pentagram, represent the five elements, earth, air, fire, water, and spirit. The circle which surrounds the pentagram represents the never ending cycle of life and how everything must come full cycle. The pentacle also coincides with the Native American Medicine shield or wheel, where each point stands for not only the elements but the corresponding compass directions. I think this symbol and its meaning sums up my belief system perfectly. And what is more beautiful then something that represents the connection between us, the earth, and the universe working systematically as one.

Aside from what the Pentacle represents, its basic use is that of protection, much like the cross is a protector to a Christian. It is also used to draw prosperity to oneself and can be found hung at a door or in a room to invite protection and positive energies. The most common place for it to be found is at the witches alter where he/she performs rituals. Again very similar to the Christian having a cross in his/her temple.

The Law

Bide the Wiccan Law ye must,

In perfect love and perfect trust.
Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill:
An harm ye none, Do what ye will.

What ye send forth comes back to thee,
So ever mind the Law of Three.
Follow this and mind and heart,
Merry ye meet and Merry ye part.

Although I don't consider myself "Wiccan", I do believe and follow some of their principles. The Wiccan Rede and The Law definately do ring true. The Rede is very lengthly and is found on most witchy sites. I have chosen to display only the law cause I find sometimes simplicity is better.

So now the next question....if you're not a Wiccan then what are you and how can you practise witchcraft?? *chuckling* Well...without ruffling alot of feathers. I have a real problem with organized religion but its something I'm working on. Although it might be right for some it just isn't for me. I don't believe I need a middle man to be attune with the God/Goddess. However...in saying that, my opinion may change in time but for now I am very happy to be an Eclectic Solitaire. (And that is just a fancy way of saying I'm a Solitary Witch who pulls from many different traditions and applies whichever seems to work best for me at the time. *grins*)
